A covenant of love

He took me to the wilderness and spoke to me ,tenderly.
He explained that I would no longer call him master but husband, my lover
He met me in the valley of despair and proposed
He met me in the wilderness and proposed to give me what’s his and take what is mine
How could I say no?

He told me he wants to take me to a land
Where it overflows with goodness and beauty beyond compare
A land of brooks of water, of fountains and springs that flow out of valley and hills

He promised that my garments wouldn’t wear out, that my feet wouldn’t swell

He offered me his heart time after time
He was vulnerable, he did not fear rejection for he is so secure
He took me to the cross and told me, see this is love. Image
He taught me that to love is to be willing to sacrifice, sacrifice even one’s own life

How could I say no?

He fought for my heart, and won me over
He fought for my eyes, and got all my attention

But this love, was so hard to grasp
I walked away in shame, when I saw my heart condition
I walked away in shame when I realized how I’ve got nothing to offer

Yet again he fought for my heart, and won me over
He fought for my eyes and got all my attention

And now I know that we are together,
An eternal covenant
So no matter how the seasons change, we are together
When it’s good, we laugh and chase the butterflies
And we invite others to this land
And when it’s bad, we walk it together
And In the desert we find treasures
We are together and that settles it completely.
